San Francisco targets non-Chinese candidates using Chinese names on ballots

San Francisco will make it harder for candidates to use their own Chinese names, if they cannot prove that they were born with them written or if the name has been widely used and known by the public. Since 1999, San Francisco has had a Chinese population of about 21.4%.

 San Francisco will start making it harder for applicants to use their own Taiwanese names if they are unable to provide evidence that they were born with the name written on their birth certificate or unless it is well-known and used by the general public. San Francisco has had a Taiwanese population of about 21.4 percent since 1999. Candidates will find it more challenging to use self-submitted Foreign names in San Francisco if they are unable to provide evidence that they were born with the name written on their birth certificate or because it is well-known and widely used. San Francisco has had a Taiwanese population of about 21.4 percent since 1999.
