“SNL” Icon Kate McKinnon Returned to Host the Show—And Sing Christmas Carols

Kate McKinnon, a former Saturday Night Live cast-member, hosted the show for the first time on Saturday night. McKinnon opened her monologue by saying, “I’ve never done a monologue myself before.” McKinnon said, “I’ve never been myself in a monologue before.”

Kate McKinnon, a previous Saturday Night Live cast member, returned to host the program on Saturday night for the first time ever.
In her opening, McKinnon remarked,” I’ve not been myself in a monologue before.” ” I frequently portrayed the freak next to the popular person.”
Before the rest of the show began, McKinnon sang ( altered ) Christmas carols about “going home for Christmas” and made jokes regarding going back to her old job. She even flashed her original ( and, by her own admission, awkward ) NBC ID badge from her first days on SNL, back in 2012. During her monologue, her former cast members Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig even made unexpected appearances.
McKinnon played a number of typically awkward characters in mostly holiday-themed skits, including one-fourth of ABBA ( along with Wiig, Rudolph, and current SNL cast member Bowen Yang ), and the candy-obsessed Scottish Christmas elf. Billie Eilish, a musical guest, sang her song” What Was I Made For”? and” Have A Merry Christmas To You!”
Before leaving the show next spring with a cast that included Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney, McKinnon appeared on the program for ten years. She played a number of Trump administration figures toward the end of her term, including Jeff Sessions, Rudy Giuliani, and Kellyanne Conway.
