Trump demands recusal of Maine secretary of state in 14th Amendment determination

Former President Trump demanded on Wednesday that the Maine Secretary of State recuse herself from the upcoming decision she will make on the former president’s ballot eligibility under 14th Amendment. He cited her previous statements about the Capitol riot on Jan. 6. Maine’s system is different from other states where plaintiffs have sued to determine Trump’s eligibility.

 In response to the Maine secretary of state’s recent remarks regarding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, former President Trump demanded on Wednesday that she withdraw from her impending decision on the previous presidential election eligibility under the 14th Amendment. Maine’s system first permits the secretary, in contrast to other states where plaintiffs have filed lawsuits over Trumps ‘ legal eligibility in court. Citing her prior remarks regarding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, original President Trump demanded on Wednesday that the Maine secretary of state withdraw from her impending decision on the former president’s eligibility for voting under the 14th Amendment. Maine’s system primary permits the secretary, in contrast to other states where plaintiffs have argued that Trump is legally entitled to appear in court.
