Officials from various governmental agencies of the Biden administration have recently indicated that Israel has plans to ask for U.S. military aid to battle in Lebanon, according to two American officials who spoke to the website HuffPost. Taking this action would represent a great intensification, very likely resulting in many innocent people in both Lebanon and Israel being killed. A potential clash with Iran, a major player in the region that has linked with the powerful militia Hezbollah in Lebanon, could arise. Prior to a Tuesday gathering involving foremost decision makers from safety and security departments, one representative was informed in regards to worries associated with Lebanon, an official announced. In an interview conducted by HuffPost, multiple U.S. and international authorities who were not permitted to make statements openly noted that the apprehension surrounding a potential armed conflict between Israel and Lebanon had significantly increased in Washington in the past seven days. Randa Slim, a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute think tank, further stated that any attack by Israel on Lebanon might be the driving force for a massive Middle Eastern turmoil, following a series of assaults tied to Iran on American soldiers stationed in the area. This past Sunday, a conflict ensued in a vital international waterway close to Yemen between the United States Navy warship and merchant ships, which were attacked with rockets and drones from a Yemeni militia group related to Iran, the Houthis. Wednesday morning, an American destroyer shot down a Houthi drone. According to officials, the Houthis have openly stated that Israel’s actions in Gaza fueled their attack, prompting the U.S. to think about some form of display of strength toward the Houthis.
