Zelenskyy Set To Meet Biden At White House Amid Push For More Aid From Congress

The White House released a statement on Sunday regarding the planned visit, noting “[the] United States’ unshakeable commitment to supporting the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves against Russia’s brutal invasion.” The leaders will consult about Ukraine’s pressing requirements and the significance of United States’ sustained assistance at this crucial juncture, considering Russia’s diminishing missile and drone attacks against Ukraine. President Zelenskyy’s staff confirmed that he has accepted Vice President Biden’s invitation. Biden has requested for Congress to approve a total of $110 billion in funding designated for warfare, which includes $61.4 billion for Ukraine and Israel and other security needs. He has further requested to be a guest speaker at a gathering of the entire Senate. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is tangled up in a disagreement about American immigration strategies and the protection of its border.
