Democrat knocks ‘Groundhog Day funding measures’ after CR vote 

Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., criticized Congress for relying upon “Groundhog Day financing measures” to keep government open after the House passed its third short-term budget bill in fiscal 2024 so far to avoid a shutdown. The Senate had approved the two-step continuing measure (CR) shortly before the House voted on it.

 After the House approved its third short-term spending bill so far in fiscal 2024 to prevent a shutdown, Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va. ) criticized Congress for relying on” Groundhog Day funding measures” to keep the government open. Shortly after the Senate approved the measure, the two-step continuing resolution ( CR ) cleared the chamber in a 314- 108 vote. After the House approved its third short-term spending bill so far in fiscal 2024 to prevent a shutdown, Rep.
