Last week, eight individuals from Kitsap County, which is in the vicinity of Seattle, initiated legal action with the aim of disqualifying Trump from being included on Washington state’s presidential ballot. The lawsuit resembles others filed across over 30 different states with the goal of disqualifying Trump from the ballot, based on a tally reported by The New York Times. On Tuesday, the Kitsap County Superior Court reviewed the case, yet the presiding judge determined that it would be more appropriate for the case to be tried in Olympia, Washington. On Thursday, once the deliberations were concluded, Judge Mary Sue Wilson of the Thurston County Superior Court ruled to throw out the legal suit. Wilson stated that the secretary of state’s decision to include Trump on the state’s primary election ballot was in alignment with their responsibilities. Wilson further argued that instructing the secretary of state to behave differently through a court order is not justified by the legal statutes or by the sworn statements provided by the electors. This ruling was made approximately two months prior to the Washington Republican primary, which is set for March 12. Steve Hobbs, the Democratic Secretary of State for Washington, stated that ballots need to be prepared “weeks” in advance. He expressed his anticipation for a quick resolution to this matter. To date, just Colorado and Maine have indicated that Trump might be excluded from their primary ballots. The Supreme Court is scheduled to consider Colorado’s case in the upcoming month. Meanwhile, a judge in Maine has postponed their ruling on a similar issue until after the Supreme Court has delivered a verdict on the case from Colorado. Advertisement.
