The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and Civil Air Patrol have been asked to assist the Marines.
According to the sheriff’s department, a call was made at 1:50 in the morning, and it sent its unique helicopter to search the area. However, because of an approaching atmospheric river storm, the helicopter was unable to arrive. According to the sheriff’s department, it has then dispatched off-road vehicles to traverse the difficult terrain.
Nothing was discovered when firefighters arrived at the location where the helicopter was last seen, according to Cal Fire officials.
According to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, and the 3rd Marine Aviation Wing are looking for five U.S. Marines.
On February 6, 2024, the Marines were operating a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter from Creech Air Force Base to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar when the aircraft was reportedly premature.
