According to The Associated Press:
Explosions along several sections of the line were caused by a” sabotage and terrorist” action, according to Saeed Aghli, the manager of Iran’s gas network control center, who spoke to Iranian state television.
In that province, which is home to the Bakhtiari, a branch of Iran’s Lur racial group, there are no known insurgent groups operating. Aghli did n’t identify any of the explosion suspects.
Speaking to state television, Iran’s oil minister, Javad Owji, compared the attack to a string of enigmatic attacks on gas pipelines that occurred in 2011, including the year of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979. On Sunday, Tehran commemorated the revolution’s 45th anniversary.
According to Owji,” The enemy’s goal was to cut the gas in the big provinces of the country, but it did no happen.” ” No province suffered a cut, with the exception of the number of villages that were close to the gas transmission lines.”
Egyptian separatists in southwest Iran have in the past claimed attacks on oil pipelines. Attacks against like infrastructure are uncommon abroad in Iran, though.
