Home Depot Broke Law By Making Workers Remove ‘Black Lives Matter,’ NLRB Rules

The NLRB is responsible for upholding collective bargaining legislation for private-sector companies, and its five-member board in Washington acts as the final authority for settling disputes related to labor. The current group only has four members. The decision made by the BLM aligns with the board’s increasingly liberal interpretation of the law after being influenced by President Joe Biden and the Democratic majority. During the trial, it was revealed that an employee was warned that if they wore ‘BLM’ on their uniform, others would have to be allowed to wear swastikas as well. The only Republican member of the board disagreed. As per the NLRB ruling, a Home Depot manager instructed employees to remove their BLM symbols due to a violation of the company’s attire policy. In trial testimony, it was mentioned that an employee was warned that if they displayed “BLM” on their uniforms, then management would be obligated to allow others to wear swastikas. A Home Depot representative stated that the company does not agree with this ruling and emphasized that Home Depot is strongly dedicated to promoting diversity and showing respect for everyone. The spokesperson stated that there is zero tolerance for workplace harassment or discrimination.
