Neuralink First Human Patient Reportedly Makes ‘Full Recovery’, Musk Says Patient Can Control Computer Mouse With Thoughts

[[{“value”:”According to Elon Musk, the first individual patient for Neuralink implanted with a brain chip appears to have recovered fully.
According to the Daily Mail, Musk stated at a Spaces event on X,” Progress is great, and the patient seems to have made full recovery, with neurological effects that we are conscious of.”
He apparently continued,” Patient can move a mouse around the screen only by thinking.”

According to Musk,” The first Neuralink product is called Telepathy.”
“enables control over practically any device, including your phone or computer, only by thinking.” Those who have lost the use of their limbs will be considered original users. Imagine Stephen Hawking being able to communicate more quickly than an auctioneer or speed typist. That is the objective, he added.

Daily Mail publishes:
According to Musk, Neuralink is currently attempting to get the patient to click as some mouse buttons as possible.
After receiving approval for human trial recruitment in September, Neuralink successfully implanted the” Telepathy” chip on the patient last month.
Although the identity of the earliest Neuralink patient is still a mystery, MailOnline has gotten in touch with the company to find out more.
A brain-computer interface implant is physically placed in a part of the brain that controls the desire to move using Neuralink’s technology, which employs an implant.
A” sewing machine-like” robot stitches little versatile threads that are attached to a computer chip into the brain to form the system.
The robot stitches up the hole after removing a tiny portion of the skull and attaching electrodes that resemble threads to specific regions of brain. The only thing that is left is the scar from the incision.
Patients can go home the same day after this procedure, according to Musk, which only takes 30 minutes and does n’t require general anesthesia.

According to Reuters:
The primary objective of the study, according to Neuralink, is to enable people to control a computer cursor or keyboard using their thoughts. A brain-computer interface implant is physically implanted in the area of brain that controls the intention to move.
Musk has high hopes for Neuralink, claiming that it will make it easier for its chip devices to be surgically inserted quickly to treat diseases like schizophrenia, autism, depression, and obesity.
Neuralink, which was valued at around$ 5 billion last year, has repeatedly been questioned about its safety procedures. According to a Reuters report from next month, the company was fined for breaking U.S. Department of Transportation regulations governing the movement of toxic materials.

Daily Mail reports
Musk said that Neuralink now tries to get as many clicks on the mouse as possible from patients.
After receiving approval for human trials recruitment in September, Neuralink successfully implanted a ‘Telepathy chip’ on a patient last month.
MailOnline has contacted Neuralink for more information.
Neuralink’s technology uses a robot that surgically implants a brain-computer implant in the region of the cerebral cortex that controls the intention to walk.
The system consists of a computer chip attached to tiny flexible threads stitched into the brain by a ‘sewing-machine-like’ robot.
The robot removes part of the skull and connects the threadlike electrodes with certain areas of brain. It then stitches up the hole, leaving only a scar.
Musk said this procedure only takes 30 minutes and does not require a general anaesthesia. Patients can return home the same day.

According to Reuters
Neuralink said that the study uses a robotic arm to implant a brain-computer device in the region of the brain responsible for the intention to move. The initial goal is for people to be able to control a computer keyboard or cursor using their thoughts.
Musk has big ambitions for Neuralink. He says it will facilitate the rapid surgical insertion of its chip devices in order to treat conditions such as obesity, autism and schizophrenia.
Neuralink’s safety protocols have been repeatedly questioned despite its $5 billion valuation last year. Reuters reported that the firm had been fined last month for violating U.S. Department of Transportation regulations regarding the movement of dangerous materials.
