In an interview with Tucker Carlson the Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that former United Kingdom Prime Minster Boris Johnson stifled peace negotiations between Russia & Ukraine.

In a January interview with The Times, Mr Johnson strongly denied these claims, which had been made by Moscow. He called them “total nonsense” as well as “Russian propaganda.”
Mr Johnson said that he “expressed concerns” regarding the nature of a potential agreement with Mr Zelensky after the peace talks in Istanbul. He assured him, however, of the UK’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine.
He said: “No peace proposal or peace agreement was possible in February or march 2022.” Russia entered Ukraine only to seize territories, kill citizens, and overthrow a democratic government.
The former prime minister’s rebuttal followed statements made by David Arahamiya in November 2023, the leader of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, and the head of the Ukrainian delegation in talks with Russia.
Mr Arahamiya said that a visit by Mr Johnson to Kyiv in the past was a factor in his decision to not negotiate with Moscow after 2022. Mr Johnson allegedly said Ukraine “shouldn’t sign anything with [Moscow] at all – and let’s just fight.”
