Alaska Airlines Boeing Lands With Crack In Windshield

While descending, the windshield on the flight from Washington, D.C. to Portland cracked.
The Boeing 737- 800 airliner was carrying 159 passengers and six crew members.

KATU 2 reports:
A representative says Alaska Airlines Flight 9 from DCA to PDX sustained a “minor crack in the aircraft’s inside windshield” while descending to the airport.
Alaska claims that the crew adhered to a checklist and that the aircraft landed securely at PDX.
The five-layer windscreens that have an inner pane, three internal layers, and an inner pane are what Alaska Airlines calls its “737 fleet.” If an internal pane cracks, the various pane and layers can maintain cabin pressure. Engineers will inspect and repair the aircraft while it is being operated, a representative told KATU 2.

It’s the most current incident to come out of a long line of incidents involving Boeing airplanes in recent weeks, according to Daily Mail.

A door plug blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 jetliner in January soon after it left Portland International Airport.
Related planes were grounded in response to the blowout, prompting numerous investigations.
Following two recent incidents involving Boeing aircraft, the CEO of United Airlines was moved on Monday to reassure passengers that the airline is secure.
A panel blowing off a plane immediately after it took off from San Francisco last week, among them, a wheel that fell from an Osaka-bound jet in early March.
In an email to customers on Monday, Kirby stated that” safety is our highest priority and is at the center of everything we do.”
‘ However, in the past few weeks, our airline has experienced a number of incidents that are reminders of the importance of safety.’
Last Friday, a Boeing 737 jet was found to have a lost panel after it landed in Oregon. A United Boeing 777 even experienced tire fall shortly after takeoff from LAX.

In the latest Boeing mishap an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 cracked it’s windshield as it landed on Sunday night at Portland International Airport.
The glass of the aircraft’s windshield was cracked during its descent from Washington D.C.

A representative said Alaska Airlines Flight 9 from DCA-PDX sustained a “minor crack” in the aircraft’s interior windshield while descending towards the airport.
Alaska says that the crew followed a check-list and the plane was able land safely at PDX.
Alaska Airlines’ 737 fleet is equipped with five-layer windshields, which have an outer pane and three inner layers. If the inner pane cracks then the other layers and panes can maintain cabin pressure. According to KATU 2, a representative stated that engineers will inspect and repair the aircraft on the ground.

Daily Mail reported that this is the latest in a series of incidents involving Boeing aircraft in recent weeks.
