America’s archivist draws a line in the sand against vandals

No society should tolerate vandalism’s destructive, self-absorbed attitude. It shouldn’t be necessary to say that they have no rights to destroy irreplaceable art or a valuable document, denying them to future generations.

 No society should tolerate the dangerous, self- absorbed petulance of the vandals. It ought not to be said that they have little right to subvert an unreplaceable work of art or a priceless document and prevent it from being passed on to future generations. No society should tolerate the dangerous, self- absorbed petulance of the vandals. It should n’t be said that they have no right to subvert an unrequited work of art or a priceless document and refuse to share it with future generations.
