Chuck Todd is explaining why it was a mistake for NBC News to hire Ronna McDaniel as a political analyst. Todd, a former host of “Meet the Press,” criticized the network for bringing on someone with significant credibility problems after McDaniel was interviewed by current host Kristen Welker on the show. Many journalists at NBC News are uneasy about this because they have experienced gaslighting and character assassination from the RNC in the past six years. Todd believed it was a mistake to hire McDaniel for political discussions, as she had assisted Trump in spreading false election fraud claims and tried to influence Michigan officials to not certify the legitimate 2020 election outcome. Other critics, including MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, also vowed to never have McDaniel as a guest on “Morning Joe.” On Monday, Todd posted a tweet on X to elaborate on why he believed McDaniel was not a good choice for the network. He made it clear that his opposition was not due to her political affiliation as a Republican, but rather because she actively supported Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election. Advertisment. He stated that the problem is not related to ideology, but to fundamental truths. Those who are attempting to turn this into a political left-right debate are being deliberately dishonest. This is a discussion about whether truthful journalists should support someone who deliberately attempted to harm our credibility. The problem is not an issue of ideology, but rather a matter of fundamental truth.
