Trump is contesting a Colorado Supreme Court decision that prohibits him from running for president again and participating in the state’s primary election. The outcome of the case decided on Monday, just one day prior to the Super Tuesday elections in 16 states, would clarify if votes for Trump, the top Republican presidential candidate, will be officially considered. Both parties had asked for a quick decision from the court, which held a hearing less than a month ago, on February 8th. The Colorado court was the initial to cite a post-Civil War constitutional provision designed to prevent individuals involved in an insurrection from serving in office. Trump has been prohibited from appearing on the primary ballot in Illinois and Maine, but the rulings in those states, as well as in Colorado, are currently being postponed as they await the outcome of the Supreme Court case.
