Joseph Fischer decided not to go to work on January 26, 2021. Instead of serving as a police officer in North Cornwall Township Police Department in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, he chose to participate in the mob that invaded the U.S. Capitol. After two months, Fischer was formally charged by a federal grand jury with seven offenses, which included allegations of attacking law enforcement officers protecting the Capitol, engaging in disorderly conduct, and impeding an official procedure. The Justice Department stated that Fischer sent text messages to different people before going to Washington, D.C., which showed his intention to commit a crime. In a series of messages, he stated: “If Trump doesn’t [sic] succeed, we should prepare for conflict; We must execute the democratic [C]ongress… They are unable to vote if they are unable to breathe. Laugh out loud. He sent another message to his boss in North Cornwall saying he may require them to pay his bail. Het kan agressief worden.
