Pierre police confirmed that the entire South Dakota emergency calling system was down, according to ABC News. Sioux Falls Police encouraged residents of South Dakota to call the 605-367-7000 number in an emergency. Las Vegas, Nevada also experienced a power outage, but it was not reported statewide. Henderson, Nevada police urged residents to text 911 in an emergency. “Rapid SOS works.” Henderson Police Department posted a Facebook message that said, “If you call us we will see your phone number and call you back right away.” The sheriff’s department posted on Facebook that Dundy County and the surrounding areas are experiencing outages. Police said that the non-emergency number was operational, as well as texting 911. Del Rio and Kilgore were also affected by the outage. This story is developing.
