From Yahoo Sports:
After his sudden retirement, Davis seemed to be in a great place. He had just published” Middle School Rules,” a children’s book featuring skilled athletes who share lessons they learned growing up, in a profile that The Washington Post published in late 2019.
Davis shared his personal story in the book: a harsh upbringing in Washington, D. C. with a violent father and a drug- addicted mother. By adopting him and his six siblings, including past NFL tight end Vernon Davis, his grandmother saved him and their adopted family. In school, Davis excelled tactically in both football and track, and ended up choosing to attend Illinois. He won the NFL’s first-round draft in 2009 and made two consecutive All-Pro appearances while playing for the team.
Davis was detained in Miami two months ago for driving while intoxicated. He was struck by a truck he had pulled over with a flat tire, and when police arrived, he was found sleep by the side of the road. He admitted to the police that he had been drinking at the time.
As the word of Davis ‘ passing started to spread, tributes started to start appearing on social media. Many other people, including former teammates Pat McAfee and T. Y. Hilton, as well as Colts owner Jim Irsay, shared their thoughts about Davis ‘ sudden passing.”}]] [[{“value”:”
