I completely agree with this assertion that banning books is inappropriate.
Only make them accessible in correct, age-constrained locations.

Oregon School District Votes to Keep Gay Pornographic Book in Library
After parents discovered that a pornographic book, Gender Queer, was available in the school library, the Salem-Keizer School District in Oregon received intense criticism.
In response, the school established a particular committee to decide whether or not to remove the book.
Common sense would tell anyone that a book with explicit, pornographic images should be somewhere near a school library.

Libs of TikTok has documented alarmed parents across the nation who have shown up to local school board meetings to try and have the book removed.
A mother was also prevented from reading the book by one school board.
Unfortunately, the book is very “obscene” for a school board meeting, but it appears to be permitted to be placed inside the library where kids can access it.

When their native schools began to pressure children into using pornographic books in their student libraries, parents all over the country were shocked and outraged.
One book that was found in some libraries is titled, Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe.

This week, hundreds of protesters gathered at a Dearborn Public Schools board meeting to protest a number of LGBTQ books they deemed to be very sexually explicit for children. And then, some community leaders are anxiously announcing a delayed meeting for Thursday night as others call for restraint.
A large police presence failed to prevent the Monday night meeting from descending into chaos as demonstrators took it over and therefore different factions within them jostled for control, shouting at each other. Protesters frequently ignored the police officers ‘ orders to stop interfering with board members.
At times, it was vague who was in charge of the meeting. Most of the crowd appeared to be in opposition to the books, but there were also a number of people with the the American Federation of Teachers union who showed up to support inclusion of Gay people and others.
The protesters ‘ retaliation was never stopped until Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin arrived later. Shahin pleaded with the audience to unwind and no stifle Dearborn. There was concern expressed by some community leaders that the protesters are making the city and its Muslim British Muslim population look awful. However, others claimed that they must defend their faith as Muslims.
The eyes of the country are on us, they say. … But please, calm down, let’s have respect for each other,” Shahin told the crowd at about 9: 10 pm”. We can have a heated debate, but men, we ca n’t conduct ourselves in this manner. We’re far superior to this. Dearborn is better than this. Better than this community. Irrespective of race, ethnicity, or religion, we are brothers and sisters.
Shahin said the board suspended the meeting and would reschedule it for Thursday evening at Fordson High School in order to accommodate a larger crowd.

I agree with the comment that banning books is not a good response.
Simply make sure they are available in places that are age-restricted and appropriate.

The statement should have read: “We believe kids need to learn about vibrators, masturbation and chest binders in order to show diversity and ultimate inclusion.” They hide the graphic nature of this book under the guise of “inclusivity”, and accuse parents of taking it out of context. In what context can a picture of someone having oral sex be shown to children?
