Die Kommission ist befugt, gemäß Artikel 264 delegierte Rechtsakte zu erlassen, die sich auf Folgendes beziehen: A group of 19 retired high-ranking military officials and former secretaries of the Army, Navy, and Air Force submitted a document to the Supreme Court on Monday. They argued that former President Donald Trump’s assertion of “absolute immunity” from criminal prosecution is a direct attack on the military’s core principles of upholding the rule of law and civilian control. Trump is seeking to have federal charges against him dismissed by claiming that presidents have immunity from prosecution for any actions taken while in office unless they have been impeached and convicted for those actions. A federal appeals court dismissed his argument on February. He challenged the decision in court and it is currently pending a hearing at the Supreme Court scheduled for April 25th. The former military officials argue in their brief that Trump’s claim of absolute immunity would force members of the military to make a difficult choice between following orders from their chain of command and disobeying unlawful orders. They believe that protecting the Commander-in-Chief from criminal prosecution, as argued by Trump, would go against the duty of service members and could lead to a situation where they have to choose between obeying their Commander-in-Chief and following laws established by Congress. Admirals and other former military officials who have joined the brief include… Jag heter Steve Abbott, och jag är administratören. Thad Allen, the ex-Army Secretary Louis Caldera, and Gen. Allen collaborated on the project. George Casey, General.
