Singapore Airlines expresses its condolences to the family of the dying, according to the New York Post.
From the New York Post:
It was unclear whether the onboard fatality was caused by a passenger or a member of the crew.
Almost 11 hours into the flight, FlightRadar24 tracking data showed the Boeing jet sharply dropping from an altitude of about 37, 000 feet to 31, 000 feet within just five minutes as it flew over the Andaman Sea.
Dzafran Azmir, a 28-year-old student on the flight, reported to Reuters that the plane immediately began to tilt upward and that was shaking. I immediately began bracing for what was happening, and suddenly there was a very dramatic drop, sending everyone seated and without a seatbelt into the ceiling.
Some people “hit their heads on the baggage cabins behind and dented it,” they “hit the areas where lights and masks are and broke right through it.”

Per CNN:
When a plane flies through squabbling bodies of air moving at wildly diverse speeds, turbulence occurs.
With light and mild turbulence, passengers might feel a strain on their seatbelts, and unprotected items might move around the cabin.
However, in severe cases, turbulence can encircle the cabin, causing serious injuries and sporadically death.
A former White House official died in March 2023 as a result of a serious turbulence on a private jet, just days after seven people were taken to hospitals after a separate corporate flight experienced significant turbulence.
Seven people were hurt on a Hawaiian Airlines flight to Sydney, Australia in July 2023 when the plane was struck by powerful turbulence, and 36 were hurt on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Arizona to Honolulu in December 2022, with 20 of the passengers being taken to emergency rooms.”}]] [[{“value”:”

CNN:
Turbulence occurs whenever a plane is flying through air masses moving at different speeds.
Light and moderate turbulence can cause passengers to feel a strain on their seatbelts, and loose items may move around in the cabin.
In severe cases, turbulence may cause severe injuries or even death to passengers.
In March 2023, severe turbulent conditions on a private plane resulted in a former White House official’s death, just days after 7 people were taken to hospital after a commercial flight experienced significant turbulence.
In December 2022, 36 people were hurt on a Hawaiian Airlines Flight from Arizona to Honolulu, with 20 of them being taken to the emergency room.
