Sejong the Great, a scientist, reformer, engineer, and inventor of the Korean alphabet Hangul, was born 627 years ago. His insatiable thirst for knowledge was reflected in his ability to translate that knowledge into tangible improvements in the welfare and well-being of his people.

According to the historical record, he had an unquenchable appetite for knowledge and was really successful in converting that knowledge into practical improvements for his people’s well-being, both politically and economically.
