Per NBC News:
In response to a “band of very large smoke from wildfires in northeast British Columbia,” the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency issued an air quality alert on Sunday.
The state’s north half has since been cleared up, according to the agency, but” smoke will still cover southern Minnesota on Monday as north winds become sunshine during the day.”
The air quality index Monday showed conditions across the four states ranging from “moderate” to “unhealthy” for the common public. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency established the index to track normal levels of air pollution and inform the public about the risks associated with it.
WATCH:
” The number of fires expected to be close to historic average and far above average in terms of the acreage burned,” according to the French wildfire season. But, the numbers will be much less than those of the history- shattering season of 2023″, AccuWeather noted.
The United States has been affected by wildfire smoke from Canada. Almost 60 counties in Wisconsin were given the DNR’s warning and the state’s overall state could be affected by smoke on Monday.

From AccuWeather:
More than half a million acres have been burned over the past week, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham, despite the fact that the fires have generally been limited to British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories this spring. Eastern Canada’s fire activity has been slowed down by persistent cool and ground snow.
Extreme wildfires have just forced thousands of people from their homes, including Fort Nelson, British Columbia.
Areas northeast of the US border were the only places where smoke from the northern Canada fires was until this past weekend.
According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Matt Benz,” Smoke has begun to seep into parts of the northern Plains and the Upper Midwest as a result of a change in the upper-level winds in the atmosphere.”

NBC News
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency issued a air quality alert on Sunday in response to “a band of very heavy smoke” from wildfires that were burning in northeast British Columbia.
The agency stated that the smoke will continue to linger in southern Minnesota as the northerly winds lighten during the day.
The air quality index showed Monday that conditions in the four states ranged from “moderate” up to “unhealthy”. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency created the index to measure air pollution levels daily and communicate the associated risk.
WATCH:

The Canadian wildfire season will be above average for both the number of fires and the area burned. The numbers will still be lower than the record-breaking season of 2023, AccuWeather said.

Smoke from wildfires in Canada has reached the United States. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources issued an air quality warning in nearly 60 counties, and warned that the entire state may be affected by smoke on Monday.

AccuWeather:
Brandon Buckingham, AccuWeather meteorologist, said: “This spring the fires were largely contained to British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan, but they have burned cumulatively more than half a milion acres, with most of this occurring in the past week.” The cold weather and snow covering the ground has limited fire activity across eastern Canada.
Recent wildfires in British Columbia and elsewhere have forced thousands of people to leave their homes.
Smoke from the fires in western Canada was confined to areas north and west of the United States’ border until this past weekend.
Matt Benz, AccuWeather’s Senior Meteorologist, said that the smoke had begun to spread into the Upper Midwest and northern Plains.
