His management company, GSE Worldwide, confirmed the death and said it was heartbroken.
We will hold off on commenting until more information is known, but we are heartbroken for his family, his friends, and everyone who gave him so much during this challenging time,” GSE said in a statement.
Monahan said he spoke with Murray’s parents to offer condolences, and they asked that the tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, continue.
He said grief counselors would be on site at the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour event in Knoxville, Tennessee. Monahan moved to Texas and afterward appeared on CBS as the fourth round was coming to an end.
” It’s really hard to see the devastation every player is going to face,” Monahan said. Grayson was a amazing player, but he also had a lot of bravery. I’ve always loved that about him”.
Murray’s parents eventually confirmed he died by suicide.

In a statement shared by the PGA Tour on Sunday, Eric and Terry Murray said,” We have spent the last 24 hours trying to accept the fact that our son is gone.”

Grayson’s parents added that their son was surrounded by love from his siblings, extended family, friends and fans.

Grayson Murray’s family revealed that he committed suicide after hearing of his death on Saturday.
“We spent the last 24 hour trying to come to grips with the fact that we son is dead,” Eric and Terry Murray wrote Sunday in a statement released by the PGA Tour.
It’s surreal to have to admit this to the world, not just to ourselves. It’s a horrible nightmare.”
“We have so many unanswered questions,” they continued.
