Ramin Setoodeh, who spoke with Trump six times following his term in 2021, shared with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins examples of Trump mistakenly believing he still possessed presidential authority. “He once claimed he had to go upstairs to address Afghanistan, even though it was obvious he did not,” he explained. Collins looked surprised. “So during your interview with him at Trump Tower, he said he needed to go upstairs to deal with Afghanistan?” she inquired. “Yes, he referred to it as ‘the Afghanistan,'” stated Setoodeh, who is a co-editor-in-chief at Variety. Setoodeh believes that Trump still thinks he has authority over foreign policy matters. One day, he informed me that he had to go upstairs to handle the situation in Afghanistan, even though it was evident that he did not. A tweet from Twitter user Acyn was posted on June 19, 2024, containing advertisement. He recounted an example where Trump shared a false story about his initial political campaign, claiming that Joan Rivers had voted for him when he ran for president. “And Joan Rivers died in 2014.”. Trump did not run for office until 2016. An author who interviewed him multiple times stated that Trump seemed to struggle with certain cognitive questions and would occasionally become confused.
