Bannon, who had refused to comply with the committee’s subpoenas, was found guilty in July 2022 on two counts of contempt of Congress, but his sentencing was postponed while he filed an appeal. After an appeals court upheld Bannon’s conviction, U.S. District Judge Carl said on Thursday that he did not believe the “original basis” for his stay of the imposition of his sentence had any place. Bison could also challenge Nichol’s ruling that he must report to prison.
Bannon was given a four-month prison sentence more than a year and a half before, in October 2022, by former Trump adviser Peter Navarro, who also refused to comply with a Jan. 6 Committee subpoena.

Bannon was convicted of two counts of contempt for Congress in July 2022, for ignoring the committee’s subpoenas. However, his sentence was put on hold until he appealed. U.S. district judge Carl said that he no longer believed the “original basis” of his stay of Bannon’s sentence, after an appeals tribunal upheld Bannon’s conviction. Bannon can still appeal Nichol’s ruling that he has to report to prison.
Bannon was sentenced to four months in prison more than a decade and a half before, in October 2022. This is the same sentence that former Trump adviser Peter Navarro is currently serving, who has also refused to comply to a subpoena issued by a Committee on Jan. 6.

Bannon promised to fight his contempt conviction “all the ways to the Supreme Court, if necessary” shortly after the hearing ended.
Bannon claimed, without evidence, that the Justice Department’s prosecution of him was about “shutting down the MAGA Movement, shutting off grassroots conservatives, and shutting down Trump.”
“There is nothing that can or will stop me from speaking. He told reporters outside of the federal courthouse, “There’s no prison or jail that can ever stop me.”
He added, “We’re going win at the Supreme Court.”
