From the first time I heard it, I found the term really weird.
Presidents have always been referred to as” President __ __,” throughout my entire life, even when they are no longer in office.
When I was younger, I could recall how I was asked why that was, and what I recall getting was that it was done out of respect for the office.
When President, often President — at least in terms of the honor of the office.
And that’s how I’ve often remembered it my whole life…. until Donald Trump turns up and leaves the 2020 presidential election.
Suddenly, he was ONLY to be referred to as” Former President Trump”.
I was so struck by something that was so peculiar that I really started to wonder if I had been remembering something.
You know, like my own personal tiny Mandela Effect.
Sometimes we always called them” Former Presidents” and I just remembered it all wrong.
So I made the decision to go back and check on myself.
Turns out I was n’t wrong at all.
It turns out that in every instance I could find, yet when they had been in office for a number of years or even decades, the term” President” was always present.
President Bush.
President Obama.
President Carter.
President Clinton.

I’m never having a Mandela Effect moment….
It’s basically true.
Donald Trump is only permitted to be called” Former President Trump” and, as of right now,” Convicted Felon Trump,” but all other Presidents still have that title.
But take a moment to correct someone when they call him” Original President Trump” and explain the historical context of the title. You can also send them this article if you’d like.
President Trump deserves our respect and honor, and he will always have it if I’m in this chair at all times.

It’s just the truth.
All other presidents are allowed to use the title President, but Donald Trump can only be called “Former Presiden Trump” or “Convicted Felon Trump”.
Next time you hear someone refer to him as “Former President Trump”, take a moment and correct them. Also, educate them about the historical use of the title president. You can send them this article, if you wish!
