University of the Arts in Philadelphia abruptly closes

The Philadelphia University of the Arts announced that it would close its doors by the end of the week. Financial problems forced the school to cut off programs for its 1,100 students, 700 faculty members and staff. The Philadelphia Inquirer published an official explanation of the closing on Friday.
