[[{“value”:”Rep. Angie Craig ( D- MN) became the latest House Democrat to call on Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election.
Craig is the fifth House Democrat publicly calling for Biden to step aside, joining Reps. Lloyd Doggett ( D- TX ), Raúl Grijalva ( D- AZ), Seth Moulton ( D- MA ), and Mike Quigley ( D- IL ).
Craig is the primary swing-district House Democrat to make such calls, according to Axios.
” As an elected leader, I feel a responsibility to be honest about what I believe, even when it’s hard to hear. President Biden is a great man, and I applaud his lifelong service. However, I think he should step down in favor of the upcoming generation of leaders. The stakes are very high”, Craig said.

Axios reports:
In the upcoming days, more lawmakers are expected to formally demand that Biden step down, according to various Democrats who have told Axios.
Biden has frequently resisted being forced to step down.
His campaign is “focused then on moving ahead with the campaign and defeating Donald Trump,” according to Michael Tyler, his campaign communications director.
Reports suggest that a group of Democrats may quickly request that Biden step down from the race in the Senate.
According to two people with direct knowledge of the plan, Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Virginia ) is attempting to assemble a group of Democratic senators to ask President Biden to step down from office.

From The Washington Post:
According to those who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Warner is telling Democratic senators that Biden can never more win the election in the wake of his failing debate performance. Warner has stated in other publications that he is deeply concerned that Biden wo n’t be able to defeat former president Donald Trump in a campaign.
Instead of releasing a statement that read,” Senator Warner believes these are crucial days for the president’s campaign, and he has made that obvious to the White House,” Warner spokeswoman Rachel Cohen would neither confirm nor deny that the senator thinks Biden needs to withdraw.
On Friday afternoon, Biden asserted from Wisconsin that he will “beat Donald Trump”.
” I’m not letting one 90-minute debate sever three and a half years of my work.” I’m staying in the race”, he said.
Biden even stated in Wisconsin that he would defeat Trump once more in 2020.

Axios reported that other Democrats also told Axios that they believed Biden should step down and more lawmakers will likely publicly call for Biden’s withdrawal in the next few days.
Biden has repeatedly refused to step aside when he was asked to do so.
Michael Tyler, his campaign communications director, said on MSNBC the president understood “there were some concerns coming out of the debate”, but that the campaign raised an additional $38 million following that night. The campaign is now “focused on moving forward with its campaign and defeating Donald Trump.”

Biden said from Wisconsin on Friday afternoon that he would “beat Donald Trump.”
“I won’t let a 90-minute debate erase three and a 1/2 years of hard work.” “I’m still in the race,” said he.
