If Biden chooses not to run, the governor may consider running for president. According to Josh Green, he believes that the president will choose Vice President Kamala Harris to be his running mate. Green said that the president will continue in the race unless he believes he cannot win or unless he is advised by his close advisors not to run. If the president believed he couldn’t handle it and genuinely couldn’t handle it, he would resign. It is likely that we will find out soon how the president is feeling about the situation. Despite being challenged by his probable Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, Biden has consistently stated that he will continue in the race. However, concerns about Biden’s mental sharpness have been raised since his poor showing in the debate last month. Some Democrats have urged Biden to drop out of the race, but the president has highlighted backing from other party members, especially governors. Green, a former physician on Hawaii’s Big Island who later became governor, mentioned that everyone has family members who may struggle at times with communication or clarity. However, he mentioned that older individuals are not being dismissed due to their knowledge, expertise, and familial responsibilities. Green stated that he will continue to support the president until instructed otherwise. He acknowledged that the decision will be made within a few days to avoid potential pressure once Congress reconvenes.
