The meeting with governors is noteworthy that, up until this point, only Mr. Biden’s best advisers and aides have been contacting elected Democrats to reassure them of his impressive debate performance. According to two people with knowledge of the call’s logistics, members of the Democratic Governors ‘ Association held a call on Monday to talk about the continuing response to last week’s debate and a common concern among state chief executives about Mr. Biden’s lack of mentoring to governors, particularly over the course of the campaign year.
Governors decided on Monday that the Biden campaign wanted to hear directly from the president, despite bidding for a timetable for the vice president to meet with him.
One of the people who is close to the plan, who was given the opportunity to speak openly about them, said,” They’d like to hear from him right away before going and sticking out their necks for him again.”
Hochul and the governor of New Jersey The single two governors to have spoken straight to Mr. Biden since the debate are Phil Murphy, who hosted one of the fundraisers the president and first lady attended over the weekend in the New York area.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear told reporters on Monday that while the debate performance was “rough,” he will still vote for Mr. Biden” as much as he continues to be in the race.” Beshear added that Mr. Biden is the candidate, and “only he can make decisions about his candidacy”.

From the Associated Press:
According to three people with knowledge of the president’s schedule, the meeting occurred after Democratic governors had originally called their own call and requested Biden speak with them.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, chair of the Democratic Governors Association, said that on the previous call, governors spoke to “what was naturally a poor performance” in the debate with participants “asking questions about, what is the plan”?
Waltz said he expects Wednesday’s meeting to address” some of the same concerns”.
The discussion with governors and Democrat congressional leaders provides the strongest proof yet that Biden is trying to avert concerns among some Democrats who worry that his often hushed and uninspired performance last week’s debate in Atlanta may have limited his ability to carry on a campaign.”}]] [[{“value”:”

CBS News:
The meeting with governors was notable because, up until now, it has been Mr. Biden’s top aides and advisors who have reached out to elected Democrats after his debate performance to reassure them. Two people familiar with the arrangements for the call say that members of the Democratic Governors’ Association met on Monday to discuss how the response to the debate last week is going.
The Biden campaign tried to arrange for Vice President Harris, to speak to governors. But the governors decided on Monday that they wanted to hear directly the president.
One of the people who was familiar with the plan spoke frankly about it, granting anonymity.
Hochul and New Jersey Governor. Phil Murphy, who hosted a fundraiser that the president and first lady attended in the New York region over the weekend, is the only governor known to have spoken to Mr. Biden directly since the debate.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Kentucky Governor, told reporters that the debate performance was “rough,” but that he would continue to support Mr. Biden as long as “he continues to run in the race.”
Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is attending the meeting virtually.

The Associated Press:
Three people familiar with the President’s schedule said that Biden was invited to the meeting after Democratic Governors had called him and asked to speak to him.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, chairperson of the Democratic Governors Association said that governors on the previous call spoke about “what was clearly a poor performance” during the debate, with participants “asking what is the plan?”
Waltz said that he expects the meeting on Wednesday to address “some similar concerns.”
The discussion with Democratic congressional leaders and governors is the strongest indication that Biden is trying to calm fears among Democrats who are worried he might not be able to continue a campaign, much less defeat Donald Trump, following his sometimes raspy performance during last weeks debate in Atlanta.
