Minnesota Rep. Angie Craig Calls for Biden to Drop Out

After a disastrous debate more than a week ago, President Joe Biden met with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos to answer some tough questions about his ability as a candidate for office. Biden repeated the same claims that his team has made since last Thursday. He was sick, he wasn’t able to run for office.

President Joe Biden and George Stephanopoulos of ABC News sat down for more than a week to respond to some of the difficult questions his performance posed about his ability to run for office. Biden repeated many of the claims his team had already made since last Thursday: he was sick, he was exhausted, and yes, he had a bad night, but it was n’t an “indication of any serious condition” .He made clear he would not consider dropping out of the presidential race, with one concession —”if the Lord Almighty comes down” to tell him to. Whether or no God intervenes, Democrats are beginning to step in. Four House Democrats demanded Collins step out of the race in the week leading up to his debate, and they were joined this morning by Minnesota’s Representative Angie Craig, the first member from a swing state. As an elected leader, I feel a responsibility to be honest about what I believe, even when it’s tough to hear.

President Biden is a great man &amp, I appreciate his lifetime of service.

But I think he should step down in favor of the future leader.

The stakes are very … pic. twitter.com/rtZLz6riDp— Angie Craig ( @AngieCraigMN) July 6, 2024″ Given what I saw and heard from the President during last week’s debate in Atlanta, coupled with the lack of forceful response from the President himself following that debate, I do not believe that the President can effectively campaign and win against Donald Trump”, Craig said in a statement. Biden won Minnesota in 2020 by 7 points. According to FiveThirtyEight, he already trails Trump by about half a percentage point. Craig’s stance might hardly come as a surprise. She was unsure whether Biden should run for president again in 2024 as of the beginning of 2022. When asked if she would support Biden’s run two years before, she responded,” I would say we need new leaders in Washington up and down the ballot in the Democratic Party.” Since watching the conversation, representatives of Mike Quigley of Illinois and Lloyd Doggett of Texas have both reiterated their positions. According to Quigley,” What we need right now is what takes a spine, and what I think takes a spine is to step aside and acknowledge that the president of the United States does n’t have the vigor to overcome the deficit here, and it’s going to affect us all.” Joe Biden is a great man, according to Doggett, who was the first House member to issue a statement encouraging Biden to drop out. He’s an American patriot. Although it’s more essential than when I first called for it on Tuesday, I was asked what Biden might do if Chuck Shumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi told him that if he was told to stay in the race, he might lose both the House and the Senate. He largely rejected the premise of the question, stating that none of these people have indicated that he should leave and that he does n’t anticipate any of them to. ” If the Lord Almighty came down and said,’ Joe get out of the race,’ I’d get out of the race”, Biden said,” The Lord Almighty’s not coming down”. President Joe Biden and ABC News spoke with George Stephanopoulos to respond to some of the difficult questions his performance posed about his ability to run for office after a fatal debate that followed. He made a number of the same assertions that his team had made since last Thursday: he was ill, he was tired.
