Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said Thursday that he’s ready to submit criminal referrals to the Justice Department, and accused the FBI and DOJ of making false claims while investigating alleged Trump-Russia collusion during the 2016 election.
Elder Patriot – Opinion- As the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) until January 2019, Nunes was a member of the Gang of Eight, privy to our country’s most highly classified materials.
He was also the only member of the Gang of Eight willing to defend the rule of law, and in the process, Donald Trump. No thanks are due Republicans Mitch McConnell (Senate Majority Leader), Richard Burr (Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence), or Paul Ryan (former speaker of the House.)
Regardless of the lack of support coming from others within his own party, Nunes’ committee, comprised of a small band of patriots, uncovered evidence of the Obama administration’s intelligence community’s overtly criminal actions, committed as to support their plot to destroy Donald Trump, more than a year ago.
Read that again. Nunes knew more than a year ago that there was nothing to the collusion charges against Trump and yet he waited for Mueller to finally admit that was his conclusion, as well.
Unless Mueller is an incompetent investigator of the highest (lowest?) order, the special counsel had to have come to that conclusion around the same time. That would mean that the special counsel spent nearly 22 months looking for other crimes that apparently never surfaced.
By definition that is a witch-hunt.
Yet Nunes waited for Mueller to finally issue his report, biding his time. Now he’s told Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo that Republicans on the HPSCI are “drafting a criminal referral.”
Nunes told Breitbart News,
“We knew this was a joke from the beginning, and I’ve said as much for a long time. Basically from the time our report came out, which has been a year. But now, the real work begins. It’s good to not have that sitting out there. But we have to now go on offense and track down all these dirty cops and bad players.”
Nunes said that within the next week he’s planning to send a criminal referral to the Justice Department that will detail “multiple referrals on a number of different crimes,” including leaking classified information.
Nunes added:
“We are quite confident that this investigation started long before they told us that it did. Look, there’s big problems — big problems that the public needs to know about. Maximum transparency is the best thing here.”
“There’ll be things in there that cannot be ignored. There will be crimes … so they have to be dealt with… people who lied to Congress, perjury, [and] criminal conspiracy.”
Nunes then dropped this MOAB: He said it reaches all the way to the Obama White House, though he is not yet clear on how involved former President Barack Obama was.
