Tennessee governor Bill Lee signed into effect a bill passed by the Tennessee legislation on Monday that enables statewide Constitutional Carry, or the concealed carry of handguns without a permit. The move comes within a few hours of President Joe Biden’s announcement of a series of far-left gun control measures.
“Constitutional carry ensures a barrier-free commitment to Second Amendment rights and is core to a strong public safety agenda,” said Gov. Lee. “Tennessee finally joins 19 other states in siding with law-abiding, responsible gun owners and I commend both the NRA and members of the General Assembly for making it happen.”

Tennessee becomes the 19th state to institute Constitutional Carry laws on July 1, 2021.
Earlier this Thursday, President Joe Biden announced a series of gun control proposals, several of which he justified with false claims.
Biden claimed that when “you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want, and no background check.” When asked about this statement during a White House press conference, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Biden doesn’t actually believe it:
“Require background checks for anyone purchasing a gun at a gun show, or an online sale,” Biden said. Background checks are already mandatory for online sales and sales by licensed gun dealers at gun shows.
“Most people don’t know, you walk into a store and you buy a gun, you have a background check,” Biden said. “But you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want, and no background check.”
When Psaki was pressed about the President’s false claims during Thursday’s press briefing, she completely contradicted Biden.
“Is it the president’s belief that you do not have to undergo a background check when you are at a gun show?” Psaki was asked.
“No, it’s not his belief,” she replied. “He believes that background checks should be universal.” When reminded of Biden’s direct claim that there are “no background checks,” Psaki said, “Well, we know what his position is.”
