Opinion| We’ve heard Democratic Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar repeatedly claim that she loves the United States, but she keeps on doing things and saying things to contradict herself.
Omar recently found herself at the center of criticism after making anti-Semitic comments, and now she has taken to social media to criticize the United States soldiers who took part in the dangerous Black Hawk Down Operation.
The thing about that particular operation is that it was a response to a humanitarian crisis.
DavidHarrisJr.com reports, “The US was sending in foodstuffs for starving Somalis, but they had to prevent the extremists from stealing the food and leaving the regular Somalis to starve.
It became known as the Battle of Mogadishu.”

Omar’s estimate of how many Somalis lost their lives is a little bit exaggerated to say the least.
The actual number is more like 133, and it’s important to keep in mind that “the deaths of the rebels as opposed to the thousands who were saved from starvation.
Of course, it’s possible that Omar would gladly lose the lives of thousands of Somalis to starvation to save the lives of the 133 extremists,” according to DavidHarrisJr.com.
Omar’s claim that “thousands of Somalis” were killed by American forces during that battle is wildly false by most expert’s estimations.
Captain Haad, a representative of the Somali National Alliance, said during a 2001 interview that 133 Somali militiamen died battling U.S. Delta Force soldiers and rangers, according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism. Mark Bowden, the author of “Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War,” estimated that 500 Somalis died.
Omar has generated numerous controversies since getting elected to Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District in November. The first-term congresswoman received enormous criticism after video was uncovered of her describing the 9/11 terrorist attackers as “some people” who “did something.”
In another unearthed video, Omar appeared to shrug off the severity of saying the name of “Al Qaeda,” and she mockingly noted that Americans don’t show the same kind of shock when speaking of “America” or the “Army.”
