Joe Biden nominated Tracy Stone-Manning as his new head of the Bureau of Land Management. But, Sen John Barrasso says that she is not worthy of the position considering what happened between her and the Forestry Department. In 1989, Stone-Manning had a role in tree spiking. Tree spiking is when you drive long spikes into tr5ees making them impossible to cut.
Not just impossible to cut but downright dangerous to even try. The WaPo described a case of tree spiking that took place in 1987. The mill worker was cutting up a tree when he hit one of the spikes. The electric saw came in contact with a tree spike, causing the saw to break and half of the blade to be launched into his face — tearing through his safety helmet, creating a gash from his eye to his chin, and splitting his jaw in half.
Barrasso said:
“Tracy Stone-Manning collaborated with eco-terrorists. She worked with extreme environmental activists who spiked trees, threatening the lives and livelihoods of loggers.”
“While she was given immunity from prosecution to testify against her companions in court, her actions were disgraceful.”
Tree spiking is one of the most vicious and dangerous stunts pulled by eco-terrorists. You can easily be killed by a piece of a saw blade as it explodes when it a spike comes in contact with one of the spikes. The injuries caused by such an event can be devastating. Eco-terrorists spike trees to keep them from being sold for lumber.
Liberals like to claim we need the trees to remain to produce oxygen. But, that is not true. Trees produce a lot of oxygen as they grow but once they reach full maturity, the amount of oxygen falls way off. If you cut down the mature trees and plant new trees, oxygen production goes back up again.
Stone-Manning was given legal immunity in 1993 to testify against fellow environmental activist John Blount, according to the Daily Caller, which based its report on court records.
Stone-Manning told the court that in 1989 she sent the Forest Service an anonymous letter claiming that tree spikes awaited loggers in an Idaho forest.
Part of the letter that warned of sabotage read, “P.S. You b******s go in there anyway and a lot of people could get hurt.”
The letter said “a total of five hundred pounds of spikes measuring 8 to 10 inches in length” were placed in the forest to block an upcoming sale of the land for logging.
