ICYMI, This is where it all began. It has been reported that Democratic Representative-elect Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who is the first Muslim woman to be elected to Congress, mocked Republican Vice President Mike Pence in a tweet last week in which she posted an image of the VP along with the caption, “Jesus take the wheel!”
Breitbart News writes of Omar’s tweet that it “was one of many mocking Pence’s apparent passivity during an Oval Office clash between President Donald Trump, incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). However, critics accused Omar of mocking Pence’s stalwart Christianity, and she offered no clarification.”
One user, who admitted that she has been a supporter of Omar, scolded the Democrat, “I don’t like Pence, and I have always liked you, but it’s not cool to mock someone over their religion. You really should remove this post. You are above stuff like this, and honestly, I have lost some respect for you because of this…”

It seems that liberals, in general, are moving toward the total rejection of Christianity. Was Omar simply attempting to scoop up more liberal support? If so, she failed miserably.
Ray Johnson of ChicagoNow.com did, however, support Omar:
Representative Omar tweeted out a photo of Vice President Pence sitting with his eyes closed with the caption, “Jesus Take The Wheel”. I thought that was really funny and the reason it was funny was that it was probably true! I don’t believe that Representative Omar meant anything anti-Christian about it and if I was sitting in there, I would have probably been thinking that same thing and praying that we can all take a deep breath and recognize the humor in the world and not take everything as a personal attack or that our fellow Americans are our enemies.
CBN News reports that this isn’t the first time Omar has gotten herself into trouble with social media posts:
In 2012, the Minnesota Democrat tweeted that “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel. #Gaza #Palestine #Israel.”

Many people criticized Omar for her tweet and accused her of repeating old anti-Semitic ideas about Jews “deceiving” the world.
Omar has refused to retract her Tweet and told ABC News during an interview this year that she is not anti-Semitic. Instead, it’s her critics who are the real bigots, she claims.
“These accusations are without merit. They are rooted in bigotry toward a belief about what Muslims are stereotyped to believe,” she said.
