Alt-left, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) came under fire after she weighed in on the conflict happening in the Gaza Strip which resulted in Palestinian militants and Israeli military forces trading rocket fire over the weekend, according to The Hill.
“How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends?” Omar tweeted Sunday night, amid the violence that left close to two dozen Palestinians and four Israelis dead.
“The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable,” she continued. “Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.”

The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.

Omar, who is one of the first Muslim women to serve in Congress, has received criticism in the past for her anti-semitic comments, and this time was no exception.
Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.), who serves as the No. 3 Republican in the House, tweeted her belief that Omar “is defending Hamas.”
“Real question is how many times will @IlhanMN rush to the defense of terrorists?” she tweeted, a message that was retweeted by House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).
1. Hamas controls Gaza.
2. Hamas is firing rockets at civilians in Israel. 3. @IlhanMN is defending Hamas. Real question is how many times will @IlhanMN rush to the defense of terrorists? https://t.co/mrKQBz1TDa— Liz Cheney (@Liz_Cheney) May 5, 2019
President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr. also tweeted about Omar’s comments:
“It’s deeply troubling that we’ve reached the point where no one is shocked when sitting members of Congress, like @IlhanMN & @RashidaTlaib, side with Hamas terrorists over Israel,” Don Jr. tweeted. “By remaining silent, democrat leadership & presidential candidates are endorsing this insanity.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley had a slightly different take, said she agreed with Omar’s tweet, and asked, “What should be done about Hamas?”
Agreed @IlhanMN so what should be done about Hamas? They are the ones behind all of this. https://t.co/9k5OwzSiiB

President Donald Trump also commented on the violence, pointing the finger at Hamas for the destruction:
