Elder Patriot’s Opinion| America’s new Attorney General William Barr in one tough cop who is afraid of no one. The impossibility of intimidating Barr has Democrats in a fear frenzy.
That explains why Democrats have resorted to accusing the highly respected attorney general of being President Trump’s “personal attorney,” and the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee, led by Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) held Barr in contempt in a party line vote last week.
Stupid move. They can’t say they weren’t warned. Legal scholar Jonathan Turley testified as to the bone-headed decision to issue a contempt order:
Turley, the George Washington University law professor often seen on TV during periods of contention over Constitutional law, testified before Nadler’s Judiciary Committee earlier today.
He told Democrats on the committee that they are sure to lose if they go to court for the purpose of holding Barr in contempt for refusing to release the full Mueller report:
“You are heading into a world of hurt if you go to the D.C. Circuit.” – Turley
Being a no nonsense lawman, Barr bristled as the Dems launched an unfounded attack against him and the mobilized the propaganda machine – the mainstream media – to mischaracterize Barr’s legally mandated actions as the actions of a biased lawman.
Barr has been around long enough not to be cowed by any of this.
So today, when Barr ran into Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the sidelines of a Capitol Hill event, he stuck a verbal shiv in her side, asking her if she had brought her handcuffs?
Barr, who has been looking into the origins of the surveillance operation targeting President Trump’s campaign, already knows it’s a virtual certainty that the entire effort was nothing more than a cover up to obscure the much longer term Obama-era surveillance of its political opponents.
With the expected release of Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report no later than June, and John Durham’s investigation already two months along, expect Barr to come off the ropes throwing haymakers in the not too distant future.
Contempt charges will look like a traffic ticket compared to what Obama’s spies are facing.
