Bill and Melinda Gates shocked fans when they announced in May 2021 that their 27 year marriage was ending. Later reports alleged that Gates had an affair with a Microsoft employee and the billionaire Microsoft co-founder just admitted that he caused his wife pain during an interview with “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.
“Were you unfaithful in your marriage? Was that one of the reasons there was the divorce?” Guthrie asked Bill during their conversation, which was mostly to promote the entrepreneur’s new book, “How to Prevent the Next Pandemic.”
“I certainly made mistakes, and I take responsibility,” the 66-year-old replied, as Page Six reported.
“I don’t think delving into the particulars at this point is constructive, but yes, I caused pain, and I feel terrible about that,” he continued.
Just after the Gates separated last year, Bill admitted to having “an affair almost 20 years ago” with a fellow Microsoft employee.
Gates also had somewhat of a relationship with creep Jeff Epstein, though both Gates and his ex-wife maintain that it was solely for money. According to them, Gates met with Epstein on several occasions to raise money for the Gates Wolrd Health foundation—Which, I personally don’t understand. I am almost certain, for all of Epstein’s wealth, the Gates were far more wealthy.
“I didn’t realize that the meeting with him almost downplayed the incredibly awful things he did,” Gates said. “I’ve learned more about that over time, but I add that to the list of big mistakes.”
His unsatisfactory response makes it sound like he only met with Epstein once, but Gates’s ex-wife confirmed that it was several meetings. In fact, she told reporters that she warned Bill to get away from Epstein and claimed the guy ’embodied evil’. She says she only met him once and he gave her nightmares but never elaborated about the meeting.
In response to questions about Melinda’s statements regarding Epstein, Bill Gates said during the interview that he “should have followed [Melinda’s advice] sooner than I did.”
Epstein died at age 66 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. He was found hanged to death inside a Manhattan federal jail cell on August 10, 2019. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to soliciting a prostitute who was a minor.
