Rich Welsh| This Friday into early Sunday morning, 16 people were shot, one fatally, in Chicago, making it a light weekend compared to most. It’s just more of the same for Chicao’s Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot, with excuses and the blame game.
The odd thing about Chicago and all the death surrounding gun violence is that neither the Democratic Party nor the misinformation news media want to talk about it because it’s not a good political talking point for them. They talk about the tragedies of mass shootings when they happen but never about what goes on weekly inside cities run by Democrats for decades, some a hundred years.
To give some perspective, it is only June 6 and yet as of this writing there have been 48 shootings in Chicago, 7 of them fatally, and we still have 23 more days to go for the month.
Year to date in Chicago, there have been 1,042 people shot and 236 of them fatally, and no one wants to talk about it because what’s going on in Chicago destroys the Democrat narrative that all Americans must be disarmed to stop gun violence.

ABC 7 – Chicago Sun-Times reported that the fatal shooting was learned on Saturday at 1:30 pm, when the victim was discovered inside a home in the 3600 block of West Grenshaw Street.
At 4 pm, a 6-year-old girl (my God) was shot and wounded two-and-a-half hours later at 4 pm while she was simply playing in thhe backyard in the 9100 block of South Paxton Ave.
At around 2:30 am, a 14-year-old teenage boy was among two people wounded in a shooting early Saturday in Old Town. The teen was with a 23-year-old man in the 1300 block of North Hudson Avenue when they were hit by gunfire, according to police. The boy was shot in the abdomen and his leg, and the man in the upper chest, police said. Both were taken to the hospital and are in fair condition, officials said. The man told police that two people were arguing nearby when one of them started shooting. I have to wonder what was a 14-year-old doing outside at that hour of the morning?
In the early evening hours on Friday, roughly around 8:15 pm, a 24-year-old man was in the passenger seat of a car in the 2300 block of South Troy Street and was shot in his back, according to police.
Last weekend, 46 people were shot in the Chicago with 10 of those being fatal. That was a holiday (Memorial Day) weekend.
Does anyone think that anything President Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress unconstitutionally come up with for gun control laws will make any bit of a difference in Lori Lightfoot’s wild, wild mid-west Chicago? I can predict right now it would probably make things much worse because only law-abiding gun owners would obey such laws. Criminals don’t obey the law, which is why we call them criminals in the first place.
Open carry and concealed carry laws would help reduce gun violence tremendously in some of the most violent cities across America, but for Democrats, it’s not about that. For them, it’s about disarming America so that they can take totalitarian control of the country and run it with an iron fist. All dictatorships throughout history started by first disarming the people.
