Ironically, Facebook is censoring a MRC story that calls attention to another platform’s suppression a study questioning safety of COVID-19 mRNA vaccinations.
Catherine Salgado, MRC Free Speech America researcher and writer, posted her Oct. 10 report to Facebook about Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo being censored for sharing results of a Florida Department of Health investigation showing that cardiac-related deaths rose by 84 percent in men between 18 and 39 within 28 days of COVID-19 mRNA vaccine.
Facebook placed a warning label on Salgado’s post on Thursday, stating that it was “missing context” and could mislead people.
Apart from censoring Salgado’s account, Facebook also censored four other MRC account in connection to the Florida Department of Health study. These accounts included NewsBusters and Free Speech America, CNSNews and MRC’s main account.
The speech police, also known as. Facebook issued a harsh reprimand to anyone who engages in free speech. The warning label states that people who share false information may see their posts move lower in News Feed, making it less likely that others will see them.
Facebook placed a warning label similar to an interstitial, requiring users click through the label to view the original post. AP News reported that Facebook users fail 95 percent of the times to click through fact check interstitials. This means that MRC’s post received less attention than it would have if it hadn’t been censored.
Facebook linked to a “fact-check” from Health Feedback when it censored Salgado. Health Feedback’s parent organization Science Feedback is part the Poynter International fact-checking (IFCN), Network, which is partially funded by liberal billionaires Pierre Omidyar and George Soros. Facebook partners with IFCN in fact-checking certain posts. This limits their reach.
According to Health Feedback, the “key takeaway” from that fact-check was that studies much larger than the Florida one found the benefits of COVID-19-mRNA vaccines outweigh the risks.
However, there are many studies and perspectives that challenge the positive mainstream narrative about COVID-19. CensorTrack by MRC in February revealed over 800 instances of Big Tech censorship of COVID-19-related posts.
Facebook removed The Great Barrington Declaration’s official Facebook page in February 2021. A prominent group of international experts in disease management was instrumental in the creation of The Great Barrington Declaration. They were critical of COVID-19 lockdowns.
America First Legal recently shared documents that indicated that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had communicated with Twitter and Facebook personnel to censor “vaccine misinformation”.
Big Tech has censored Salgado at least four times this year. Facebook also censored her three times in June for COVID-19 content. The Vatican’s June 1st post called attention to the issuance of a coin “celebrating ineffective, dangerous and abortion-tainted Covid-19 vaccinations.” Facebook then imposed a June 5 Health Feedback “fact check” on Salgado’s June 2nd post. The fact-check was linked to her Substack article, which highlighted a German study that showed that mask mandates did not reduce the spread of the virus.
Facebook performed another “fact-checking” on a June 3 post by Salgado, citing feminist Dr. Naomi Wolf who claimed that COVID-19 vaccines were causing “genocide of babies.”
