This could be the most serious journalistic malpractice and naked pro-Democrat MSM partisanship in recent memory.
Jonathan Capehart’s last week interview with President Biden was a slapstick affair. But there was one moment that stood out. It was when Biden seemed to be snoring [see screencap] when Capehart asked Dr. Jill if he supports his run for re-election. Capehart had to wake Biden up by calling out “Mr. President?”
Joy Reid laughed at this moment on Friday’s The Reidout. So, on Sunday’s MSNBC show, Capehart would surely include it among the many clips of his interview. But he didn’t! This clip is 10 seconds long. It shows Capehart’s exclusion from Sunday’s show.
Capehart’s beddy-bye moment was made worse by the fact that Biden, during that interview, challenged those who doubted his ability to run again. Biden said:
“I believe that watching me is the best way to judge. Do I slow down? Are you moving at a slower pace? “People should be looking at my energy level and how much I can do.
We looked. You have slowed down, Mr. Biden. You are not moving at the same speed. Your energy level is low. It looked like you fell asleep during an interview, for goodness sakes! Maybe he’s taking drowsy medications.
Capehart didn’t want his viewers to know this, so he cut the most important part of his interview. Outrageous.

JONATHAN CAPEHART (Mister President): I can’t be there without asking you a question about my Aunt Gloria. She may have been your biggest fan in 2020 because she said that we gonna need an older white dude to chase, to take on an older white dude.
When I asked her if she thought you should run for office, she said that she was not sure. Given your age. This was her one caveat. If Donald Trump runs again you must run again. So let’s say Trump doesn’t run again. Convince Aunt Gloria to stay with you.
JOE BIDEN – Well, Aunt Gloria should have a look. I believe it’s a legitimate thing for anyone to be concerned about their age, even mine. That’s completely legitimate, I believe. However, I believe that the best way to judge is to watch me. Do I seem to be slowing down? Are you able to keep up with the same pace as me?
You know that old joke about how everyone talks about the new 70s and 50s and all that stuff? It could be that I’m a great friend or of fate. I could get a serious illness tomorrow, or I could die tomorrow.
However, in terms my energy level and ability to do so, I believe people should ask themselves if he still has the same passion for what they are doing. If they believe I do, and that I can do it then that’s fine. If they don’t believe I can, they should vote against my candidacy. They should not vote against me, but they should encourage me to stay home. But that’s not what I feel. I don’t know what age I will be. It’s impossible for me to even get it out my mouth. I swear to God that it’s not possible. You can’t believe that! You think I am joking. You know that I’m not kidding.
CAPEHART: I’m sure you’re not kidding
BIDEN: It’s so strange. Aunt Gloria should take a hard look at it. If she thinks I am missing a beat she should support another Democrat, if they decide not to run.
BONUS COVERAGE – Biden Damns Kamala with Faint Praise – ‘There’s Nothing she’s Cut Off From.’
Biden answered Capehart’s question about Kamala Harris’s health and said that she is doing well. What else could he have to say? It was a mistake that his first and most important decision, choosing the person who was only a heartbeat away of a soon-to be 80-year-old president, was made.
There was however a moment that was quite telling. Biden said that Harris and he had claimed that Harris was the “last person in the room” when he made important decisions at the beginning. However, Biden did not mention that in the interview. Biden stated the opposite.
“She is not cut off from anything. We engage her in all things.
Biden says Kamala hasn’t been given the mushroom treatment, but she’s not kept under wraps. Harris is not “:cut off”, but that’s a far cry from calling her his most trusted advisor.
Biden implied that there is a “we” that engages her in all things by saying “we”. This implies that there are true decision-makers: Ron Klain and Dr. Jill, as well as Biden to a certain extent. Kamala is not part of the decision-making group.
