Scarborough tries to suggest that Crist is more conservative than DeSantis

On Tuesday’s MSNBC Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough, MSNBC Morning Joe host, joked about himself when he suggested that Charlie Crist, the Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate for Florida was more conservative than Governor. Ron DeSantis is alleged to want to centralize power and is against the free-market.

Scarborough declared, “You are a former Republican, now Democrat.” I am a former Republican and an independent. We both believe in the free marketplace. So, let me talk to you a bit about the free market. It was brought up by you last night. I’m glad that you did. As a conservative, I’m still conservative. However, I’m very afraid when a central state tells businesses what they can or can’t do.

Evidently Scarborough failed high school civics, because Florida, as a subnational entity, is not a centralized country. He said, “I’m still scared when a central state tells me, oh, well, people who run cruise liners in middle of a panademic that they can’t take steps to keep their people safe and make money.”

Scarborough also seems to believe that the state government setting curriculum standards in government-run schools is a form of big government. “I’m really worried when he does it so local businesses as well,” he said. I am really worried when he tells local school districts that he will do everything exactly the same way I do it in a state with 67 counties.

Scarborough finally got around to asking a question. “I mean, you said that this guy was a bully but more than that it seems like he is playing this strongman routine. This is dangerous not only for Democrats, but also for conservatives like myself in Florida.

Crist replied, “Well, Joe, it’s remarkably hazardous and I’m glad that you brought it up.” I believe in free enterprise, but not unfree enterprise. It seems like Governor DeSantis wants everyone, including Walt Disney World, to be dictating how they should conduct themselves and run their businesses.

He also suggested that Florida should treat Disney as its city-state in order to be a true believer of the free market and free speech. “That’s the antithesis of free enterprise. I believe in free commerce. I believe that small businesses and large companies should have the right to do business in the way that they choose. Governor DeSantis went after Disney World. For crying out loud, who in the world wants to be Mickey Mouse? Florida? This is Disney World, a state-recognized icon, and he attacks them for what? They exercise their right to free speech.”

Crist claimed that the action was illegal and predicted that it would be thrown out of court. It is reasonable to assume that the Crist campaign won’t be approved by voters.

JOE SCARBOROUGH – You are a former Republican and now a Democrat. I am a former Republican and an independent. We both believe in the free marketplace. I’m going talk to you a bit about the free market. It was brought up by you last night. I’m glad that you did. As a conservative, I still believe in the importance of conservatism. However, I am very afraid when a central state dictates to businesses what they can or cannot do.

I am really afraid when a central state tells people who run cruise liners that they can’t do anything to protect their people and make money. I am really worried when he does this to local businesses. I am really worried when he tells local school districts of a state with 67 counties that you have to do everything exactly the same way I do.

You said that this guy was a bully, but it seems more than that he’s doing this strongman routine. This is dangerous not only for Democrats, but also for conservatives like myself in Florida.

CHARLIE CRIST: It’s incredibly dangerous, Joe, and it’s something I appreciate you bringing up. I believe in free enterprise, but not unfree enterprise. It seems like Governor DeSantis wants everyone, Walt Disney World included, to tell them how to conduct themselves and run their businesses.

This is the opposite of free enterprise. I believe in free commerce. I believe that small businesses and large companies should have the right to do business in the way that they see fit. Governor DeSantis went after Disney World. For crying out loud, who in the world wants to be Mickey Mouse? Florida? This is Disney World, a state-recognized icon, and he attacks them. And for what? They exercise their right to free speech

The guy went to Harvard, but he doesn’t know the Constitution. I got it from Cumberland Law School and Florida State Law School. It’s not clear to me why he doesn’t get it. But he is doing something wrong. It will be thrown out of court. It is clearly against the Constitution.

He is not doing the right things for people. His focus on property, insurance, and unaffordability has shifted to property, insurance, and unaffordability. The price of gas and utility bills have risen under Governor DeSantis. It’s wrong. As I said last night he has taken his eyes off the ball and is focusing on running for president. He won’t even admit to it. It’s unbelievable.
