We Please Have Some Racism? // (John Hinderaker)
The Left is hungry for racism, but it is difficult to find. Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, searched for racism in Rishi Sunak’s ascension to the role of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Noah claimed to have seen a “backlash against Sunak”, but there is no evidence. To be fair, Noah claimed to have seen a “backlash” against Sunak, but there is no evidence. Isn’t the Daily Show supposed be comedy, or newsman?
Great Britain did not like Noah’s racist-hunting safari. The London Times reports
After a US talk-show host claimed that there was a backlash against the country’s first Prime Minister of Colour, Rishi Sunak insists Britain is not racist.
Trevor Noah, 38, hosts The Daily Show. He was angered when a segment of the show was posted to Twitter as “Unpacking Rishi Sunak’s Backlash”.
The clip was viewed over one million times and lasted 52 seconds. Noah claimed that there were people saying that Indians would take over Great Britain in response to Sunak’s election as PM.
Has anyone ever said such a thing? No.
[H]is comments were questioned in Britain by Sajid Javid (ex-health secretary), while Sir Trevor Phillips (ex-head of Commission for Racial Equality) called them “completely incorrect”.
This is polite.
Phillips stated, “This is basically smugness with steroids. Phillips is making his audience feel superior and comfortable about a country that they don’t know anything about.
“This is an audience that likes the idea that it – and only that – understands racism. It is an elite that can look down upon everyone else. This is who he plays to.”
American liberalism is characterized by “smugness on steroids”. The American Left is almost blind to the existence of other countries.
Noah claimed that there was a backlash against Sunak. But there wasn’t.
He stated that “watching Rishi Sunak become England’s first prime minster of colour, of Indian descent and then seeing the backlash was one of the most telling things about people’s views on the role they or their family have played in history.”
“And what I mean is that you hear a lot people saying: “Oh, they’re takingover, now the Indians will take over Great Britain and what’s the next?”
Are there many people? Name one.
Noah did not mention any examples of a British race backlash, instead naming Tucker Carlson, right-wing Fox News host.
He said, “You see Tucker Carlson all of the time saying, ‘You know exactly what they’re trying? They won’t stop until black women and men are in power’… what?
Carlson never said such a thing. How sad are American liberals like Trevor Noah! The Brits continued to pile on:
Javid, Sunak’s predecessor in the role of chancellor at the exchequer was Sunak’s previous chancellor. He said that Noah was “simply wrong”.
He tweeted: “A narrative tailored to his audience, at the cost of being completely detached reality.
“Britain is proud to be the most successful multiracial democracy in the world and is a testament to this historic achievement.”
Our liberals are described well as “completely detached from reality”.
Sunak’s spokesperson stated that he doesn’t believe Britain to be racist.
Social media users also questioned Noah’s comments, with some accusing Noah of “projecting” American views of race onto Britain.
Tom Holland, historian and author wrote: “As always, the inability by American liberals to comprehend the world beyond the US using anything other than American terms is a wonder.”
These Brits seem to have an outdated view of American race relations. I am not referring to liberals, but normal Americans. Let’s just point out the absurdity of The Daily Show going to great lengths to find racism in, of all the places, the fact the son of Indian immigrants is now Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
