Noah, Abrams lament ‘Vile Attacks’ While Spreading Conspiracy Theories

Stacey Abrams made a comparison between herself and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a Ukrainian fighting for their freedom the last time she appeared on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Trevor Noah. With only eight days before Election Day, she returned Monday to Atlanta to join her show’s host to decry the “vile attacks” against her. She also spread conspiracy theories about the election and called Gov. Brian Kemp is “the architect of voter suppression.”

Noah lamented the negative campaign against Abrams. “It feels ridiculous, it seems like people don’t believe it, but it really feels that a campaign against your has been particularly personal and it’s been particularly vile.”

Abrams was clear in his agreement that “part of standing for office means you know people are going to attack you.” You have two options: you can internalize the attacks, or you can use them as fuel to remind yourself why you do this every day. These are real people with real lives. Brian Kemp is going to say some vile things about my character.

Noah later declared, “It will be a hotly contested Race.” There will be stories about poll stations closing when they shouldn’t have, people being kicked out of lines, purging, etcetera.

Noah maintained that his conspiracy theories were different from Trump’s, but he wondered how Abrams would respond to the claim that they weren’t.

It creates a paradoxical world in which, on one hand, you want people to point out election processes that aren’t fair and make it as simple as possible for people vote. People will quickly turn it on you and say, “oh, but Trump refuses to accept the election, then he’s evil, but you don’t accept that election so you are bad.”

How can you navigate this? And how can you talk to the issues surrounding voting in Georgia without appearing to be against the democratic process?

Abrams began her reply by praising Noah. However, some of your colleagues were easily fooled into conflation. It is not easy to win everything you want, but it is possible to whine about it and incite insurrection. That’s what Brian did. That’s what Donald Trump did. Donald Trump denied that an election had taken place.

Contrary to Abrams’s claims many media professionals have offered her an excuse, claiming that they believe conspiracy theories about election results are acceptable as long as they don’t end in violence.

Abrams also stated, “I know that I’m not governor.” I have not served as governor for four years. That’s something I’ve been very clear about.”

Trump is aware he is not president, but he believes he should be Governor just like Abrams.

After the earlier lamentations of “vile” attacks, Abrams launched into an attack against Kemp: “Voting rights. Voting access is about who gets up.”

Election outcomes are up to the voters. Access is the responsibility of the government. Brian Kemp is one of the greatest hits. Brian Kemp is the architect behind voter suppression. The reality is that they tried to stop us talking about access so they could get the outcome they want.

It is not difficult to imagine the disinformation guardians finding a way to ignore this.

TREVOR NOAH : It feels absurd, it feels people don’t believe that, but it really feels like someone is waging a campaign against me, it’s been especially personal and it’s been very vile.

STACEY ABRAMS – Being elected to office means you are aware of the attacks you will face. You have two options: you can internalize the attacks, or you can use them as fuel to remind yourself why you do this every day. These are real people with real lives. Brian Kemp is going to make vile remarks about me. My daddy is watching me and I’m going tell him.

NOAH: This is going to be a highly contested race.

ABRAMS: Oh, yes.

NOAH: There will be stories about poll stations closing when they shouldn’t and people being kicked out of lines, purging, etc. It creates a paradoxical world in which, on one hand, you want people to voice their disapproval at unfair election processes and make it as easy for them to vote as possible.

People will turn it on you, however, and say, “Oh, but Trump won’t accept his election.” But, you don’t accept the electoral results so you’re not bad.

How can you navigate this? And how can you talk to the issues surrounding voting in Georgia without appearing to be against the democratic process?

ABRAMS: While you’ve done a great job, some of your colleagues were easily manipulated into conflation. It is not easy to win everything you want, but it is possible to whine about it and incite insurrection by being told no.

That’s exactly what Brian did. That’s exactly what Donald Trump did. Donald Trump denied that an election had taken place. I am not governor. I have not served as governor for four years. I have been very clear about this. This is how I got on Star Trek.

But I have always fought for what I believe in, and that’s, you can go back. I was 19 when I marched on Washington, so I have a good track record. Voting rights and voting access are about who gets to vote.

Election outcomes are up to the voters. Access is the responsibility of the government. Brian Kemp’s greatest hits include Brian Kemp as the architect of voter suppression. The truth is that they tried to stop us talking about access so they could get the outcome they want.
