TikTok, a Chinese Communist Party-tied TikTok, censored Monday’s episode of MRC’s free speech video series. This was the day before Election Day.
Paiten Iselin was host of MRC Free Speech America’s CensorTrack With Paiten. She reported on the leftist media’s complete meltdown following Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter and the restoration of free speech on the platform. The episode was posted to TikTok by MRC on Friday. The anti-American app allowed it to remain for three more days before removing the episode in time for Election Day.
When it notified MRC, the platform claimed that “This clip violates our Community Guidelines”. “We remove content or accounts that involve spam, fake engagement, impersonation or misleading information that causes serious harm,” the platform notification was vaguely vague.
It is unclear how MRC’s video exposing antifree-speech leftists complaining about Twitter’s free speech makeover qualifies for “spam” or impersonation. But the platform also prohibits “misleading info that causes significant harm,” which could be literally any information the platform doesn’t approve of. It seems that TikTok, a leftist CCP-tied group, disapproves MRC Free Speech America’s latest video. [Emphasis added.]
Just this year, TikTok has censored MRC 48 more times. This latest case is not the first time that the CCP-tied app attempted to suppress MRC videos for authenticity and baseless integrity violations. Two MRCTV videos were removed by the platform in February for the same reason.
TikTok removed a clip from MRCTV’s “Things That Need To Be Said With,” MRCTV Blogger/On Air Host Nick Kangadis. Kangadis spoke about why “more Americans are united against [Biden’s] regime.” Kangadis spoke out about the supply chain crisis and empty food shelves, growing inner city homelessness, the rising murder rate, and recent FBI scandals. TikTok deleted the clip for violating “Community Guidelines” regarding “integrity, authenticity”, after the video had been allowed to remain on its platform for almost a month. TikTok rejected MRCTV’s appeal.
The platform removed a clip from MRCTV’s Wacky M.O.L.E. Eric Scheiner, Director of MRCTV. Scheiner criticized media economists for downplaying the rise in inflation. According to screenshots, the platform removed the clip more than a week after it was posted. This was due to a “content violator” of “integrity or authenticity.” TikTok restored the video after MRCTV appealed.
A MRC Free Speech America analysis found that TikTok had permanently banned 11 pro-free speech groups. The 11 banned individuals and groups included pro-life groups such as Live Action and Students for Life of America, and commentators such as Tom Fitton and retired Lt. Col Allen West, and Michael Knowles.
TikTok didn’t respond to MRC Free Speech America’s request for comment by publication deadline.
