e’s a hole in the future // (Scott Johnson).
This series has been rethought in light of this week’s downbeat events. I decided to try to keep it current rather than cancel it. First, Phil Ochs’s “No More Songs”, from his bitterly titled Best Hits (1970), was what came to my mind. It is the final track on his last studio album before he died in 1976. We are not going there. Maybe tomorrow.
Today’s tribute to Richie Havens is “There’s A Hole in the Future”, a track that was released as a single. It was also included on Stonehenge (1970). This number was written by Richie and it still sounds great to me 50 years later.
