The Associated Press declared Eli Crane, a Trump-backed Republican congressional candidate in the race to represent Arizona’s second Congressional District, defeating Tom O’Halleran, a three-term Democrat. O’Halleran was one of the youngest Chicago Police Department detectives. O’Halleran was initially a Republican Congressman in the Arizona House of Representatives between 2001 and 2006, and in the Arizona State Senate from 2006 to 2009. He then quit the party in 2014 and became a Democrat. This seat he held since 2016. After serving three terms as Arizona’s 1st Congressional District Representative, the Democrat sought re-election to the newly redrawn, more competitive 2nd Congressional District against Trump-backed Republican challenger Crane. Crane, a former Navy SEAL and small-business owner in Tuscon is the pro-life, pro-second amendment Republican candidate who ran in O’Halleran’s resistance.
